CGI Placement Experience

CGI

CGI is one of the leading Canada's IT service company. It had come to our college on 3/08/2016.The overall placement system was moderate and consist of further rounds:

• Aptitude
• GD
• Technical
• HR

Aptitude had  sections like Quant, Verbal, Programming knowledge(flowcharts). Quant was of moderate level, practicing from RS Agarwal is more than enough. Verbal was just a cake-walk, logical was of moderate level too.

Coming to programming knowledge section, it was quite tricky which mainly consists of flowcharts ,and it's the most time-consuming section of all. It requires proper understanding of the problem and performing step by step analysis and computation in the flowchart. However fetching good score in quant can be your savior even if you don't perform that well in programming knowledge section.

GD was the second round where each team had a group of 10people max.GD topics were quite generic like love marriage vs arranged marriage, Digital India pros and cons, Social media boon or bane etc. The only key to crack GD is to speak confidently with strong valid points. Never be in a hurry to initiate the GD unless you are very much comfortable with the topic. Make your presence to be felt in your team in the most dignified manner. But having a vernacular accent  can be a serious drawback even if you have a strong content so make sure you work on it(if you have any! :P).

Technical was completely resume-based and apart from that concepts from C,C++,DBMS are commonly asked.

The most obvious questions were:

1. Which language you are most comfortable with?
2. Difference between C and C++?
3. OOPS concept.
4. Basic C programs like Fibonacci series, Prime numbers, Palindrome etc.

All concepts from DBMS are equally important(for CSE,ISE students). In technical they may asked various questions based on real-life scenarios based on that they may asses your team-building skills, your innovativeness and pro-activeness.

HR is going to be the last round if you successfully clear all the rounds before, HR round is the real test of your presence of mind, as they are the ones who can grill you to any extent unless they come to any conclusion. Be very confident while you speak and don't try to indulge yourself in any cross-question.

The basic HR questions were

1. Tell me about yourself?
2. Why CGI?
3. Your strength and weakness along with real life situations showcasing these qualities.
4. where do you see yourself in next 5 years?
5. Extra-curricular activities?
